Job Summary

Under the supervision of AR&D Senior Chemist/Group Leader, the Student-Analytical R&D carries out work related to Analytical R&D activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance/training of a senior lab member, become acquainted with the instrument operation and wet chemistry techniques utilized within the lab. To become competent in the instrument operation/wet chemistry techniques which will enable them to be successfully qualified by the department.
  • Carrying out work related to AR&D activities. Must develop and demonstrate a basic understanding of test methods/SOPs/compendia and Certificates of Analysis.  Ensures their work complies with health and safety standards, SOPs, cGMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Under guidance, tests R&D samples as and when required using various analytical techniques including HPLC, UV, GC, IR, ROI, KF, Autotitration, and any other standard pharmacopoeial test methodology.
  • Reporting problems related to instruments, methods, etc. to the Senior Chemist/Group Leader as quickly as possible.
  • Report all testing results and deviations encountered during testing. Under guidance, utilizes basic analytical knowledge and typically seeks the input of higher level team members for carrying out their assigned investigation activities.
  • Proper documentation of analytical data and information. Self-reviews analytical data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Under guidance, develops ability to critically assess results for accuracy and precision; suggests or determines critical parameters causing poor or inconsistent results.
  • Completes assignments within allotted time period to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Acquires an understanding of the principles of cGMP.
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.
  • Keeping the workplace clean, tidy and safe. Execute their duties in compliance with the health and safety policies/procedures of the company.
  • Continuously upgrades and adds to analytical skill set to include the ability to work with new instrumentation and the ability to learn and apply new analytical techniques (both instrumental and wet chemical).
  • Demonstrates personal leadership attributes incorporating a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning. Seeks performance inputs from peers, more senior team members and the supervisor to identify any performance gaps.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Minimum Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent area of study.
    • Knowledge of gravimetric titrations, Karl Fischer titrations, UV, IR, GC, HPLC, etc.
    • Conducts themselves in a fashion that is consistent with the safety fundamentals of a laboratory.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, Chemstore/Chemstation or any suitable software
