ABOUT THE ROLE

 

We are looking for a strong leader to fill the role of Manager of the Project Management Office. The right candidate will be a part of the Project Management Team — a team consisting of strong and dedicated professionals who are passionate and driven to continuous improvement and success. 

Reporting to the Director of Service Support and Governance, the Manager of the Project Management Office will be responsible for  supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Project Management governance, methodologies and frameworks.  The role will provide leadership and expertise to the Project Management Office and will work closely with the Service Management Office to ensure best practices for  an integrated service delivery that enhances capabilities and drives process improvement.

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

 

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation and maintenance of Project Management roadmaps, frameworks and methodologies with a view to the Service Lifecycle
  • Collaborate with other members of the Global Information Services leadership team to ensure that all governance policies and processes are aligned to the Information Technology strategy and meet operational objectives
  • Establish standards of performance, development programs and other practices that support efficient governance capabilities
  • Champion project management best practices and continuous improvement through agile and lean processes
  • Responsible for delivering on and supporting divisional and operational metrics or Key Performance Indicators
  • Provide oversight, ensuring that project initiatives are executed in compliance to established standards and organizational processes
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Global Information Services teams and key business stakeholders
  • Build the Project Management competencies, developing a high-performance team via training, mentoring and recruitment of qualified individuals
  • Redress (investigate, understand, communicate and recommend) initiative related concerns of management, clients, sponsors and staff.  Guide team members on corrective action where necessary.
  • Manage on-going partnering relationships with vendors and external contractors, as it relates to Service and Project initiatives
  • Participate and lead performance conversations with employees

 

CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

 

  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Over 10 years in project portfolio experience; preferably in a leadership role; prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is an asset
  • Experience leading a department
  • In-depth knowledge of agile, hybrid and waterfall project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of Service Management strategies and the Service Management Lifecycle
  • Experience in leading and influencing the activities and interaction of direct reports and stakeholders
  • Ability to motivate, empower and develop a multi-disciplinary team, including senior technical professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of Canadian, US and EU regulatory guidelines and agencies is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of computer system validation would be an asset
  • Solid business acumen required in terms of both executive relationship building and budget or P&L management
