Job Summary

The Solution Architect is responsible to plan, design, develop, implement and maintain Enterprise data applications and related integration for enterprise data solutions which meet tactical and strategic business requirements.  Provide expert insight into all aspects of related business process reengineering and configuration activities to meet customers’ business needs.  Lead, engage, think strategically and mentor junior staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Hold overall technical responsibility for the architecture, integration, transformation, and storing of data to support solutions.
  • Serve as a technical expert in dealing with the business community and implement optimal solutions based on industry trends and the Apotex environment.
  • Use advanced analysis and problem-solving techniques to assess, identify, and recommend / resolve process improvements and application challenges.
  • Conduct research in the marketplace to determine “best practices” and emerging trends, recommending action as appropriate which will also include the evaluation and recommend external suppliers and contractors for the provision of services.
  • Take a proactive role in facilitating and monitoring adoption and use of systems across organization.
  • Demonstrate and make recommendations to the Global Information Services (GIS) leadership team on aspects of innovative technical and business solutions to GIS & business.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers to determine information technology needs across organizations; and keeping them current with new trends.
  • Work with GIS peers and cross functional teams in the evaluation, implementation, enhancement, and support of solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership in all project phases including analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, and support.
  • Formulate, manage, and follow up on actions taken for the ongoing development of self and team members.
  • Responsible for assuring solutions adhere and further the Enterprise Data standards and principles. Acts as a champion for reuse of assets in solution creation.
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation of processes and procedures to ensure that applications can be supported.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years combined experience in Pharmaceutical/Process Industry, Consumer Packaged Goods, Information Systems, or Management Consulting Environment.
  • Post-Secondary education and/or University degree in sciences, technology or related area.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and business teams at various levels within the organization and conceive and portray the data big picture from an enterprise perspective.
  • Strong experience on Enterprise Information Architecture practices using Informatica tools such as Informatica Data quality (IDQ), Master Data Management (MDM), Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and AXON Data Governance.
  • Experience working with Cloud based Data systems (Azure Data lake, Databricks, Azure SQL and PostgreSQL Systems).
  • Possess a sound understanding of systems development; software project management approaches, interpreting and translating requirements, solution design and testing techniques.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to see the issues that need to be solved and develop solutions.
  • Show excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities to accomplish objectives and goals anticipating and adjusting for problems and interruptions/roadblocks.
  • Demonstrate ability to consistently produce accurate, complete, and thorough work of high quality.
  • The following skills would be considered an asset:
    • Knowledge in Analytics (Data Visualization, & Reporting) Advanced Analytics (Machine learning, Arfticial Intelligence, & Data Science) and Data Delivery Services (Microservices, & APIs Management)
    • Knowledge of SAP Source Systems, Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL 
    • Experienced in DevOps / DataOps and Continuous Integration / Delivery / Deployment
