Job Summary
This dual-role position combines category management with strategic business partnering responsibilities to support Apotex’s procurement objectives with a dedicated focus on Apotex R&D Packaging and ARPL Packaging category
The Procurement Specialist – will serve as the primary liaison between Internal Research & Development (R&D), launch team, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and external suppliers, supporting the development of innovative packaging devices, new product launch and post submission requirement. This role is also responsible for leveraging commercial buying power and supplier relationship owned by procurement to ensure maximize the negotiation power and achieve the targeted completion date.
Job Responsibilities
- Support NPD packaging materials and vendor sourcing, including inhouse component selection and new component sourcing. Participate in manufacturer selection and qualification through cross-functional collaboration. (NPD- new product development)
- Support NPD post submission packaging requirements and LPD. (LPD- new product launch)
- Ensure SDCs are communicated and assessed prior to commercialization; Support pre-commercialiation OOS events. (SDC- supplier driven change; OOS- out of spec)
- Support component improvements and design modifications
- Manage supplier readiness for development, submission, launch, and commercial supply
- Partner with internal teams and external manufacturers on technical, quality, and regulatory matters
- Define, plan, monitor, and report progress against timelines and deliverables.
- Provide market and business intelligence to support component and supplier sourcing
- Maintain internal procedures and interfaces across divisions
- Ensure smooth handover of projects between R&D, commercial, and tech transfer teams.
- Facilitate cross organizations and function teams meeting and discussion; Foster trust-based relationships through open, honest communication
- Support tasks such as Supply Agreements, CDAs, MTAs and QAAs. (CDA- Confidentiality Agreeement; MTA- material transfer agreement; QAA- Quality Assurance Agreeement)
- Identifying and implementing cost reduction and savings opportunities. Maximizing global purchasing power to benefit Apotex ARPL.
- Enhancing supplier relationships, performance, and communication.
- Driving continuous improvement in sourcing, pricing, and supplier engagement.
- Ensure personal adherence with all compliance programs including the Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality policies and procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies.
- All other relevant duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Graduate/ Post Graduate in Science/ Commerce, Economist (Business Administration) or Scientist (Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Pharmacology etc.).
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and service oriented
- Strong organisational skills; ability to work independently and manage priorities and conflicts
- Strong understanding of GMP and Pharmaceutical requirements
- Expierence of Project Management
- Knowledge of Supply Chain principles and Procurement practice
- Knowledge of and experience with the MS-Office suite of products and ERP system
- Knowledge of parharceutical combination product device is an asset
- Flexible on time when needed
- Experience
- 5+ years progressive experience the pharmaceutical industry
- 2+ years proven experience in project management
- 2+ years proven experience in procurement
