Job Summary

Position is a 12-month contract.

The Consultant, Business Intelligence is responsible for delivering actionable insights to support Canadian Commercial performance through high‑quality data visualization, reporting, and analytics. This person will develop new dashboards, and maintain existing ones, to advance use of data and analysis in making sound business decisions.  This role partners closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions, primarily using Power BI and modern analytics tools. The Consultant works with IT to align database architecture with business needs, applying sound database management concepts and developing robust processes for extracting, transforming, and standardizing data from multiple sources.

In addition to enabling data‑driven decision‑making, this role supports commercial execution by collaborating with sales leadership to set sales targets, and by executing commercial budgeting and performance calculation processes. The Consultant leverages modern query languages and analytics technologies to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability, playing a key role in enabling insight‑led growth across the Canadian Commercial organization.

The Consultant, Business Intelligence will utilize best practices of Organizational Change Management to guide all rollout plans of new technology and processes.

Job Responsibilities

Business Intelligence:

  • Responsible for executing ad hoc reporting and analysis as required by cross-functional teams within Apotex Canada Commercial and as prioritized within Commercial Excellence deliverables
  • Develop and maintain data visualization apps in support of Apotex Canada Commercial teams
  • Understand user requirements and implement BI projects
  • Liaise with users and GIS to troubleshoot issues with active BI dashboards owned by Commercial Excellence
  • Ensure that all tools, applications, and reports provided by Commercial Excellence team adhere to defined Data Sourcing standards
  • Responsible for QA testing, ensuring quality of reporting being provided by GBS Commercial team
  • Build and maintain reporting on SLAs for deliverables of GBS Commercial team
  • Role should provide actionable insights and/or time-saving reporting efficiencies each year

Database Management:

  • Understand Apotex Canada Commercial data requirements and nuance of complex datasets
  • Liaise with IT teams to ensure database architecture aligns with ability to efficienty fulfil business needs
  • Manage Commercial databases, ensuring timely flow of clean and accurate data
  • Provide database architecture solutions and suggestions based on a deep understanding of data sources and business needs
  • Develop processes for extracting, receiving, and standardizing data to be used in reporting

Performance Reporting:

  • Work with sales leadership to develop sales targets
  • Execute Commercial target and sales performance reporting and processes, identifying areas requiring attention via management reports
  • Manage a central database for Apotex Canada targets
  • Manage a Sales Rep performance database that will generate reports and variance analysis
  • Supply deliverables accurately and on time for each compensation cycle

General:

  • Utilize best practices of Organizational Change Management to roll out new tools, applications and processes to stakeholders
  • Build and deliver training plans for tools, applications, and processes delivered to stakeholders
  • Ensure deliverables provide a simple, repeatable, output with minimal intervention by Commercial Excellence team
  • Support, as needed, any existing tools and processes owned by Commercial Excellence

Job Requirements

Education

  • University degree: Business, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Computer Sciences preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, VBA, and other development tools. Knowledge of machine learning an asset
  • Profiency with data visualization software (Power BI preferred; Qlik; Tableau)
  • Proficiency with ETL processes and automation in a SQL environment
  • Previous experience with Databricks an asset
  • High level of proficiency in all MS Office applications, including Excel and Access
  • Previous experience in SAP or an ERP system an asset
  • Knowledge of statistical procedures and applied data validation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels within the organization

Experience

  • Experience in the Canadian Pharmaceutical industry working with pharmaceutical data systems and conducting focused analytics preferred
  • Experience in performance analytics

The hiring range for this position is $83,126.43 to $116,377 CAD per year. The final agreed-upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
