Job Summary
This is a leadership role responsible for executing and sustaining Apotex’s operational excellence initiatives and strategy that results in improving operations performance and efficiencies, eliminating waste, improving customer satisfaction, and increasing market share.
This role will work closely with the VP, Global Opex & Transformation on developing and execution of alternate strategies across the global operations that unlock and bring new value to the organization and will support the business in adopting best practices in Continuous Improvement.
The focus is on defining optimal operational flow and setup, ensuring business KPIs are adherence to processes and standards, leading and oversee Opex performance improvement projects and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.Building capabilities and delivering on projects that support Lean/Operational Excellence, the business expects to see significant benefits with respect to improved quality, service, safety, and cost performance.
In addition, this role will challenge organizational leaders when necessary to create an action-based culture of continuous improvement and increase CI and Lean-oriented thinking throughout the organization.
Job Responsibilities
Operational Excellence:
- Working closely with manufacturing sites to ensure execution of Opex projects across all areas.
- Identify and prioritize key strategic improvement initiatives, leveraging data analytics and industry best practices.
- Challenge status quo to constantly improve ways of workings across the organization.
- Lead cost control meetings and develop innovative ways to continuously decrease operational costs, while maintaining and improving quality
- Design and implement process optimization initiatives, including Lean Six Sigma and other relevant methodologies. Drive waste reduction and systematically increase productivity through LEAN/Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on change over time reduction projects implementation and execution of 3-year OEE improvement plan.
- Oversight of KPI’s (OEE, productivity, outputs, waste etc.) across sites and activity participating on performance review meetings and provide guidance and insights to improve those areas.
- Establish rigorous performance-management systems with robust metrics and measure progress against clear targets.
- Drive the adoption of digital technologies and automation solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the organization.
- Study and comprehensively understand different functional areas of the business and industry best practices to uncover and lead improvement opportunities.
- Drive a multi-tier operations performance meeting structure.
- Support teams to identify opportunities for Opex and COGs improvements and drive reduction portfolio of projects ; Provide support and guidance to operations teams to be a high performing team through supporting performance conversations with project teams, including monthly one on ones, to connect on performance; check in on employee’s progress toward achieving Objectives, offer support and remove barriers; and communicate and revisit performance expectations to reinforce and encourage high performance culture and a safe working environment for all employees
- Coach and mentor operations teams to drive performance improvements by providing training and development opportunities to the operations teams to help them build their skills and knowledge in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Influence and engage senior-level executives across all functional areas of the business to drive outcomes, OEE and proactively improvement, while ensuring alignment across the sites.

Job Requirements
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Science, or related field
- Master’s degree in business, Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent management experience Project Management Professional (PMP)
- A Six Sigma black belt, Master black belt certificate is a plus, and/or training and qualification in other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 8-10+ years of experience leading a portfolio of complex programs and projects related to operational excellence and continuous improvement (global experience preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment with proven experience in leadership roles.
- In-depth understanding of Lean Six Sigma and other relevant continuous improvement methodologies and KPIs (i.e., OEE, SMED, productivity, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and use advanced data analysis skills to propose recommendations.
- Ability to direct and influence others by building trust and credibility.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work in a fast-past, changing work environment Strong facilitation and presentation skills, collaborative working style.
- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel skills, Project Management software tools and methodologies and knowledge of PowerBI is a plus.
- Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization
- Be a model to others. A “hands-on” style and is aggressive in achieving desired results.
- Proven strong organizational, and project management skills.
Experience
- Expertise in PM strategies, PMO management, project reporting, communication tools and methods
- Proven track record of success in leading and implementing OpEx and Transformation initiatives in a global organization.
- Excellent English language communication (verbally and in writing), interpersonal and presentation skills
- Experience in a-management role
- Experience in developing strategic plans and presentations to support management decisions.
