Coordinator, Shipping

Job Summary

This position has the primary responsibility for coordinating all outbound logistics to Apotex Customers.  Duties includes assigning carriers to deliveries, making carrier appointments, organizing deliveries into shipments, coordinating with other distribution centers, and addressing deliveries with internal stakeholders. 

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain shipping schedule, records, and logs for shipments
• Work with various trucking partners (carriers) to schedule outgoing shipments
• Provide appropriate training in the shipping department
• Ensure all shipments leave on time.
• Ensure efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment
• Build good relationships with freight partners and maintain outstanding rapport.
• Determine and uphold proper workflow and truck loading processes
• Experience in leading and coaching small teams
• Desire for continuous improvement and growth
• Experience in customer service and computers or equivalent training
• Writing, math and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with other teams
• Ability to manage small projects personally and work independently
• Organizational skills and detailed oriented with a quality mindset
• Ability to work within a deadline under pressure and handle interruptions

Job Requirements

Education

• High School/GED

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•  Recognized designation (P. Log, CITT, etc.) would be an asset
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience using warehouse material handling equipment
• Strong leadership skills (previous coaching, coordinating or supervising experience an asset.
• SAP knowledge and experience including inventory mangement/cycle counting; experience with the following modules an asset (QM, PM and WM)
• Proven organzation and communication skills.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a logistics environment (pharmaceutical experience an asset).
