Job Summary
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and growing strategic customer relationships to accelerate CanPrev's expansion within the U.S. market. This role serves as the primary business partner for assigned accounts, driving revenue growth, customer retention, operational excellence, and long-term account development within the Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements (VMS) industry.
This position provides the opportunity to help establish CanPrev's presence in the U.S. market by building strong customer partnerships, executing commercial strategies, developing scalable processes, and contributing valuable market insights. Working collaboratively across Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs, the Strategic Account Manager plays a key role in advancing customer success and the continued growth of CanPrev's U.S. business.
Success in this role is measured by customer satisfaction, account retention, revenue growth, distribution expansion, operational execution, and meaningful contributions to the successful development of CanPrev's U.S. market presence.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive Business Growth & Account Development
- Develop and execute strategic account plans that achieve sales, revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
- Grow and retain strategic customer relationships while identifying opportunities to increase sales, distribution, and market share.
- Conduct regular business reviews and account planning discussions to develop collaborative growth strategies.
- Contribute to and execute initiatives that drive the successful launch and expansion of CanPrev within the U.S. market.
- Account & Customer Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, building trusted partnerships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
- Coordinate customer onboarding, product launches, promotional initiatives, and ongoing account development.
- Complete required onboarding, product, and compliance training to develop a strong foundation in CanPrev's portfolio, systems, and business practices.
- Serve as the voice of the customer by gathering feedback and communicating insights that influence product, marketing, and commercial strategies.
- Exercise sound judgment in resolving customer concerns and escalating issues when appropriate.
- Operational Excellence & Cross-Functional Execution
- Manage customer order processes, including EDI, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely execution
- Set up and actively monitor customer portals to ensure accurate product information, order visibility, and timely issue resolution.
- Partner closely with Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure seamless execution of customer initiatives.
- Monitor account performance and business metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of SOPs and scalable business processes.
- Product & Industry Leadership
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of CanPrev's products, ingredients, formulations, and positioning to effectively communicate value to customers
- Maintain awareness of VMS industry trends, retailer requirements, and competitive activity to support informed business decisions.
- Provide product education and business support to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders as appropriate.
- Brand Representation
- Represent CanPrev professionally at customer meetings, trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Deliver customer presentations, business reviews, and product discussions both in person and through virtual platforms.
- Act as a key liaison between customers and internal teams to ensure successful execution of customer initiatives.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Responsibilities within this role are expected to evolve alongside the growth of the U.S. business, expanding to include additional account management, operational support, and strategic sales initiatives as assigned
- Participate in special projects and initiatives that contribute to the continued growth and success of CanPrev's U.S. market expansion.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs to support continuous growth, industry knowledge, and alignment with CanPrev's evolving business needs.
Job Requirements

- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Nutrition, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of CRM, ERP, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems preferred.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze performance, identify opportunities, and develop customer-focused solutions.
- Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in account management, sales, business development, or customer relationship management.
- Experience within the Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements (VMS), Natural Health Products (NHP), Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), dietary supplement, or healthcare industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing retail, distributor, and/or e-commerce accounts is considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel 40% domestic across US and 10% internationally.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
