Team Lead, Cloud & Infrastructure

Job Summary

The Team Lead, Cloud & Infrastructure is responsible for the delivery, support, security, modernization and continuous improvement of Apotex’s enterprise IT infrastructure services across all global regions.  This role ensures all critical IT infrastructure is highly available, secure, compliant and scalable to support the current and future demands of the required pharmaceutical business functions.

The Team Lead will be responsible for leading and developing the Platform Support team, managing external vendors and project delivery activities, establishing operational priorities, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence and continuous service improvement. The role is accountable for fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.

This role also contributes to infrastructure standards, documentation, cyber security directives, disaster recovery planning, mergers and acquisition activities while serving as an escalation point for critical incidents and resolution of complex technical challenges.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide infrastructure leadership by supporting day to day operations including mentorship and promoting collaboration across global GIS teams
• Lead, mentor, and develop infrastructure team members by supporting capability development, knowledge transfer, succession planning, and continuous learning initiatives.
• Manage operational support for all virtualization, cloud, storage and security related infrastructure by ensuring infrastructure uptime metrics are met while performing preventative maintenance and root cause elimination activities
• Own the operational health, availability, security, performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud and infrastructure services, ensuring service levels, resiliency objectives, and business expectations are consistently achieved.
• Maintain validated infrastructure and support qualification, CAPA and audit readiness requests
• Work closely with cyber security team to implement security best practices not exclusive to remediation of vulnerabilities, coordination of infrastructure patching and managing identity security.
• Assist in annual cyber & disaster recovery planning, testing and documentation upkeep
• Oversee infrastructure monitoring platforms leveraging capabilities such as event management, alert notification and performance tuning
• Guide cloud operations covering landing zones, governance, security, cost optimization, hybrid architecture, resiliency and recovery constructs
• Lead or contribute to infrastructure roadmaps, including technology refreshes, capacity planning, lifecycle and cyber security management.
• Support all facets of the ITSM environment driving best practices in areas such as vendor, incident and change management as well CMDB accuracy and technical debt elimination and removal of technical debt
• Lead and deliver infrastructure project workstreams end-to-end from discovery, design, build, test, cutover and transition to operations phases.
• Drive continuous improvement through techniques not limited to infrastructure automation, standardization, process simplification, post incident reviews and root cause analysis

Job Requirements

• Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

• Certifications (Desired, Not Mandatory):
  • CAPM or strong ability to execute on highly time sensitive projects
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management knowledge
  • ISC2 or other security related accreditation
  • Microsoft / Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Windows Server, Identity)
  • VMware, Hyper-V or Nutanix certifications
  • Citrix & Linux knowledge or certifications
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Lead complex technical multi workstream projects targeted towards modernization, cyber security, and other transformation initiatives by reporting on status, risk mitigation and delivering on time and within budget
  • Hands-on experience administering servers, virtualization platforms, cloud and hybrid architectures, identity and access management, networking, storage and backup, monitoring, DevOps best practices.
  • Utilize various facets of the ITSM lifecycle from Incident to Problem Management to meet service level, performance reporting objectives and drive root cause analysis to completion.
  • Display strong leadership competencies in a fast-paced environment such as providing mentorship, building high performance teams, setting operational priorities, effective delegation and quick conflict resolution.
  • Troubleshoot across all infrastructure layers and act as a senior escalation point.
  • Perform annual DR & CR testing outlining RPO/RTO requirements defining recovery sequencing and dependency mapping
  • Familiarity with GxP, GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ITL and Computer System Validation (CSV)
  • Demonstrate a strong analytical problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

• Experience
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience leading infrastructure, cloud, platform, or operations teams within complex enterprise environments.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure leadership roles within global infrastructure enterprise environments
  • 8+ years of leading complex projects and teams particularly targeted towards recovery implementation and testing, mergers and acquisitions, modernization / transformation initiatives and security hardening efforts
  • Proven experience managing mission critical enterprise infrastructure in 24 x 7
  • Nice to have - pharma / manufacturing background as well as knowledge of regulatory, compliance and industrialized OT (operational technology) environments
