Job Summary
- Purpose: This role will report to the Director, Global EHS and will have responsibility for maintaining the global health and safety programs. The role will also collaborate the environmental functions where consolidated EHS program efforts are required.
- Scope: The main responsibility of the Safety Specialist is to work with the Director, Global EHS to ensure that Apotex Inc. maintains compliance with all regulations related to the health and safety, supports all sites with health and safety initiatives and programs, and supports related global health and safety training initiatives. The specialist will assist in the development of programs and tools to ensure that these obligations are met and will help to build the overall health and safety program at Apotex Inc. including employee engagement activities, developing and delivering training, and auditing of the overall program.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a global safety and health expert resource, supporting documentation and training development, and serving as a project/team leader.
- Provides support for the creation and deliver of global health and safety and training, as directed.
- Liaises with health services and similar resources, in support of health-related programs/development needs.
- Supports the execution of the EHS communication calendar, EHS Teams Channel, EHS Event notifications and annual EHS plan, in collaboration with the Director, Global EHS.
- Participates in the development of all EHS program material and initiates any updates required to ensure training courses remain up-to-date within the Global EHS Program.
- Supports the revision and maintenance of EHS program material, in collaboration with the global EHS community and relevant external departments as resources. Reviews program for overlaps, discrepancies, due date, readability and compliance. g., supporting the preparation of drafts and reviewing comments (written and verbal) received from relevant groups.
- Act as the EHS department liaison for Policy Hub to initiate, change and publish program revisions.
- Develop and maintain the master and historical program files for internal/departmental reference purposes.
- Develop, format, order, organize and revise global EHS training materials in cooperation with global EHS team members.
- Author/maintain relevant EHS documents/communication on the associated Apotex Intranet webpages (Apoweb).
- Deliver identified global EHS training courses.
- Liaise with Learning and Development staff to ensure global EHS training set up for processing in SAP /GLMS.
- Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
- Education
- University/College degree in a related science, human resource management, health and safety or training discipline.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability as a team player.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational / project management skills.
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written).
- Working knowledge of SAP, MS Office Suite, Trackwise, Articulate and SharePoint.
- Understanding of the pertinent environment, health and safety acts, regulations, codes and standards is an asset.
- Be capable of qualifying as a trainer per internal SODs.
- Understanding of GMPs, SODs, SWPs, Global EHS Standards and other associated technical documents.
- Experience
- 3-5 years relevant experience.
- CRSP, CSP, CHSC designations an asset.
