Job Summary
Under direct supervision, develops and demostrates the skills necessary to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair building systems equipment in order to provide highly reliable utility support to the Operations Group. Equipment includes HVAC, boilers, chillers, dust collectors, air compressors and purified water systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Help diagnoses mechanical, electrical or pneumatic problems and expedites repairs.
- Expectation is to develop skills and progress to increasingly more complex maintenance tasks and the duties of a licensed millwright.
- Performs proper documentation and communication of work performed in SAP for compliance and contribute to root cause analysis of equipment.
- Help support the operation of building systems to provide specified and reliable environmental conditions and utilities to production, packaging, laboratory, warehouse and office areas. Document system conditions as assigned. Report abnormal conditions to Building Services Manager.
- Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, calibrating, modifying and making installations to the building systems and facilities in a professional and timely fashion as required.
- Assist in carrying out preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
Help to compile and maintain all information and documentation relevant to all completed work (CMMS, Log Book, change control, update drawings, files etc.). - Help to determine impact of required work, communicates, co-ordinates and supervises major repairs with other facilities staff / contractor and users to minimize service interruption.
- To work as part of a team with users, facilities staff and vendor to evaluate effectiveness of systems in order to make continuous improvements.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; locate and diagnose trouble in the building systems or equipment.
- Learn and perform machining requirements, which include the proper use of lathes, mills, surface grinders, drill press, welding and brazing equipment and other machine shop related practices.
- Ensure that all work is performed in full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and established safety standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
- Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
Education
- A minimum High School Diploma or equivalent to enter an apprenticeship program.
- Eligible for a Millwright apprenticeship program.
- Helpful to have courses in English, Physics, Science and Math.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Successful and continual completion of technical aptitude assignments.
- Ability to work within a team environment (as part of a team) as demonstrated through previous experience.
- Proven computer literacy with Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proactive by nature and self-motivated.
- Willing to participate in skill enhancement programs and self development.
- Ability to work any shift, including weekends.
Experience
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatics systems is a bonus.
- Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements, as related to pharmaceuticals is beneficial.
