Job Summary

As part of the Global Business Services (GBS) sourcing team, provide support to Category Managers with sourcing expertise and industry knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to successful execution of sourcing activities, including:
  • Act as a specialized resource/consultant to Category Managers and other team members.
  • Provide sourcing expertise through development of effective working relationships with suppliers and counterparts in the industry, and keeping current with market/industry knowledge, trends, continuous improvements and best practices for a wide range of categories.
  • Support Category Managers with opportunity assessment, supply market assessment, spend analysis and commercial analysis and recommendation deck
  • Responsible for sourcing document creation and end-to-end sourcing event execution, including RFx
  • Establish and maintain sourcing processes (process maps)
  1. Support Category Managers in strategic sourcing initiatives and projects, including:
  • Identify opportunities to improve total cost, quality and mitigate risk
  • Support implementation of agreed-upon strategies (negotiations; recommendation, implementation of supply agreements and contracts, etc) to deliver bottom line performance improvement
  • Assist in determining, aligning with and delivering sourcing priorities based on category plans.
  • Support in cost saving plans and targets and managing to deliver results
  • Assist with developing sourcing strategy

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • University graduate of a relevant field
    • Procurement professional designations are an asset
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP or equivalent MRP/ERP systems and technology.  Expertise in SAP ARIBA and SMART by GEP or other industry leading Procurement tools are required
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Demonstrated ability of managing a varied procurement portfolio and delivering results.
    • Strong project management skills to be able to lead sourcing initiatives
    • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all internal and external customers at all levels, on a one-on-one basis,  and in meetings
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong knowledge of various office, business and statistical software (Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
    • Makes effective decisions quickly through assessment of the situation based on strong knowledge of facts and business, without waiting for 100% of required information.
    • Deals with all internal and external customers and suppliers in a professional and ethical manner.
    • Strong written and verbal skills required for development and delivery of strategic sourcing and project recommendations
    • Comfortable with presenting in front of peers, senior management and suppliers.
    • Resourceful and creative.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in strategic sourcing.
    • Good understanding and experience in sourcing execution including opportunity assessment, needs and market assessment, sourcing strategy development, negotiations, recommendation, implementation and supplier relationship management programs
    • Experience and knowledge of identified categories (IT/utilities/R&D/Professional Services/Travel/Engineering/MRO/General Supply & Services/Logistics/Scientific) and industry best practices
