Job Summary
As a senior accountant of the corporate finance department, this position acts as a strong support mechanism to the Manager, Corporate Finance through the facilitation of business processes providing the foundation for effective financial stewardship. The position is responsible for performing financial analysis to support monthly/quarterly reporting and ensuring compliance to internal control procedures and accurate financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Job Responsibilities
- Plays a key role during monthly, quarterly and year end reviews by compiling/analyzing the financial results and matters of particular interest or importance, as well as preparing sections of the financial reports. Responsible for conducting various financial analyses related to the ongoing financial operations of the organization.
- Supports the safeguarding of the assets of the organization across the Apotex group of companies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Performs the verification required to ensure that transactions are processed in accordance with proper control guidelines.
- Supports the interim and year-end audits by collecting and validating data, and providing documentation and responses to inquiries.
- Works closely with the Manager, Corporate Finance to ensure the quality and accuracy of financial data. Develops new analytical tools, reports and controls as needed.
- Performs complex financial accounting transactions across all entities.
- Responsible for generating business process re-engineering initiatives.
- Supports the budgeting processes by ensuring that budget data is properly set up in the financial reporting system for accurate reporting and providing assistance in the development of budget data.
- Supports preparation of annual tax return and analysis for tax effectiveness as required.
- Undertakes Statistics Canada Reporting as required.
- Coach and lead other members of the team with respect to advancing their financial knowledge.
- Special projects as required.
- Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
Demonstrated expertise in finance and accounting gained through a university degree and a recognized accounting designation (CGA).
• 3-5 years of financial experience (post designation) in a complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial and accounting practices, standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Good organization and communication skills with an ability to work independently and be a team player.
• Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and handle changing priorities.
• Proactive mindset. Upgrading and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Excellent working knowledge of SAP.
