Job Summary

As an important member of the Enterprise Data Office, the Associate Director, Enterprise Domain Owner Product and Material plays a key leadership role in ensuring that Data Governance efforts are applied to the Product and Material data they own and they are accountable for. This role takes accountability for definition, quality, and adherence to data governance standards and specifications of the data in the Product and Material data domain.  

The Domain owner leads or participates as a senior representative on cross-functional business project teams representing the Enterprise Domain ownership function for Product and Material.

In conjunction with business leaders, develops, makes authoritative recommendations around, and ensures the implementation of, consistent and harmonized policies, procedures and professional standards of performance for the Enterprise Data Governance program related to the Data Domain they lead.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying the scope of Product and Material Domain and Data Steward appointments.
  • Responsible Responsible for building the Product and Material Domain Strategy comprising of subdomains, data stewardship responsibilities, critical attributes and short term and long term priorities.
  • Identifies aIden Accoutable for the identification of business processes critical to the Product and Material domains and for leading with business areas the process build, business SMEs identification and data impact.
  • Accountable for the definition, quality, and compliance to standards/regulations of the data in the Product and Material data domain.
  • Ensure that the data within the Product and Material domain is fit for use by ensuring that Data Governance (DG) Practices {i.e. Policies, Standards, Processes, and Procedures in DG, Data Quality, Metadata Managment and Master Data Management /Reference Data Managment} are deployed.
  • Ensures that data definitions are provided by Data Stewards for the Product and Material domain.
  • Contributes to and approves data duplicate identification (i.e. matching and survivorship rules) for master data in Product and Material domain.
  • Together with Data Stewards, identifies and mobilizes resources to participate in data-related issue resolution
  • Understands usage, consumption and value of data in their ownership across the broader organization.
  • The Product and Material Domain owner is familiar with Data Management and Governance roles, principles and processes.
  • Represents DG targets as part of broader Apotex strategy and builds adequate knowledge of Apotex’s business activities, strategic goals, and decision making.
  • Provides agreed-upon reporting on DG performance metrics for Product and Material domains (i.e. DQ, MM, MDM/RDM, compliance), proposes feedback to and seeks clarification about policies, processes and procedures related to the data in Product and Material domain from Data Working Group Together with Data Stewards
  • Reviews and provides input to the data model for Product and Material data domain.
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology or Finance. MBA or Accounting Designation prefered
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Deep understanding of the Global Product and Material Domain as it relates to internal and external data is required
    • Working with business resources to develop business processes. Ability to make recommendations on configuration changes to improve business processes, resolve issues.
    • A track record of working collaboratively with multiple departments to identify and solve issues, and ability to influence at all levels in the organization
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and influence skills, achieving successful results through indirect reports
    • Ability to translate simple business requirements into data structures and address the needs to have more complex processes which require TRASACT SQL procedures and functions that can be reutilized.
    • Using existing internal information, industry/market information and other publicly available information to determine the probability of expected outcomes as it relates to the data domain
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with experience presenting to various levels and writing reports for senior executives
    • Strong operational and team leadership in complex environments
    • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience
    • 10+ years of experience in a relevant senior role with a strong focus on Enterprise Data
    • Experience managing or mentoring small to large indirect teams
    • Experience presenting to and working with executives, business and IT as well as various size groups
    • Broad knowledge of ERP application functions and configuration settings
    • Experience with Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions
    • Experience managing major systems/process implementations
