Job Summary

Our Global Indirect Procurement team is growing at our office located in Toronto, Ontario.  We are looking for a Project Leader - Category Management (Project Leader)  to support our business units and stakeholders. The  Project Leader will be responsible for building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and leading or supporting procurement initiatives and cross functional projects from different work streams under Global Procurement to support delivery on business objectives . The purpose of the position is to support Global Procurement to create value for business stakeholders, manage total cost of ownership and mitigate risk for the organization. The Project Leader will have the opportunity to support category plan development, streamline strategic sourcing process, drive continuous improvement and deliver Procurement projects. This position interacts with multiple roles and levels throughout the organization.

Job Responsibilities

 Category Planning

  • Support category managers to collect input of internal stakeholders' needs and supply market dynamics information
  • Support category managers to develop operational plan and build pipeline projects based on business stakeholder’s’ priorities, support category plan execution and deliver progress report to Associate Director, Global Category NEM
  • Analyse and understand enterprise spend, market intelligence, supplier landscape, business needs, market trends to support the creation of the Category Strategy.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Sub-Categories, suppliers, risk, and market dynamics.

Strategic Sourcing (on as needed basis)

  • Provide inputs to RFx package development, translate internal stakeholders' needs to RFx requirements, and search for potential suppliers
  • Work with Global Indirect Sourcing Leads to ensure on time project delivery.
  • Ensure Sourcing activities are properly aligned with the expectations of Business needs/units, Projects, Stakeholders groups and Category Strategy.
  • Provide input on Procurement process for users and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Procurement Operations team to develop supplier reporting/cadence for savings tracking.

Collaborate with SRM team

  • Collaborate with SRM team to identify supplier innovation and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Work with SRM team to set up and implement KPIs, SLAs, Dashboards, etc., to track Suppliers’ performance.
  • Contribute to risk management & contingency plan development

Project Management

  • Develop project plan (objectives, scope & key deliverables) for key procurement initiatives or cross functional projects
  • Report on project status, including budget when applicable, to Procurement leadership team and stakeholders
  • Ensures alignment and integration of project plans to mitigate risks and deliver on required milestones
  • Establish strong working relationships with the internal stakeholders to foster a collaborative partnership to deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Facilitate project update meetings to measure performance and progress on project plans and deliverables

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • University graduate degree required. Specialization in Operations Management, Supply Chain or Engineering preferred
    • PMP certification and Lean Sigma certification preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to work with many levels of Apotex and suppliers
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
    • Demonstrated positive teamwork across business segments and within the department.
    • Change management and process improvement skills with direct experience in delivering complex business process/organizational change
  • Experience
    • 5+ years of Strategic Procurement/Category Management and Business Stakeholder Relationship Management experience
    • 3+ years of Project Management/SRM experience
    • Excellent communication, moderation/facilitation and project management skills with an ability to lead and manage teams effectively in a truly global, fluid, interactive environment.
    • Focused, results-oriented and able to challenge the status quo to achieve both the medium- and long-term Procurement goals.
    • Experience leading or managing cross-functional projects in a matrix organization
    • Experience working in a highly regulated and compliance driven scientific, manufacturing or technical organization
    • Proficiency with SAP, Ariba, and other enterprise Procurement systems, e-Sourcing and contract management tools required
