Job Summary

The Controls & Automation Project Lead is responsible for providing technical support to Building Systems and Engineering Department in the Building Automation Systems area.

This role is responsible for the maintenance, operation and integration of Building Automation Systems, including Siemens Apogee and Desigo platforms as well as AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform. This includes troubleshooting of field I/O and controllers (PLCs) through HMI, to resolve problems related to building systems which include integrated equipment such as environmental monitoring systems, dust collection, HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors and water systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as SME in the troubleshooting and evaluation of various building systems’ PLC/Open Processor, Controller, or integrated systems-based issues, improving compliance and reliability.
  • Daily operation and maintenance of Building Automation Systems, including Siemens Apogee/Desigo and AVEVA (Wonderware) platforms. Cause investigation of all point alarms, warnings, or system failures. Communication of abnormal event counts to Building Technicians and Management.
  • Train BSTs and EITs on Building Automation Systems operations. Work with EITs to align BAS configuration with calibration program to ensure sensor accuracy as per SOP directive.
  • Take on automation integration activites on existing and future EMCS/BAS platforms from field contollers to software configruaition as per user requirments and engineering design.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines for all assigned initiatives. Manage resources, such as spare parts, to complete projects on schedule, and create minimal production impact contingency plans.
  • Participate in new equipment introduction activities to ensure the appropriate change controls, commissioning, qualification, and training plans are in place to deliver efficient system start-up.
  • Complete equipment Installation and Operational Qualifications (IQ/OQ) for new and existing systems. Ensure records and documentation for change controls are completed and available.
  • Works collaboratively in a safe manner to achieve all outcomes.

  • Avalible for after hours support to ensure continutity of the business and minamize production interuiptions.
  • All other relevant duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Electronic Engineering (or Technology) et cetera.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of the programming, troubleshooting and networking of PLCs.
    • Working knowledge of Siemens Building Automation platforms (Apogee and/or Desigo).
    • Familiarity with AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform or similar SCADA/HMI software.
    • Good organization and communication skills.
    • Able to interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Experience
    • 3 - 5 years experience with Distributed Control Systems,Networking Software Systems and configuring computer software and hardware.
    • 3 - 5 years experience or knowledge of Air Handling Systems, Boilers, Chillers, Compressors and other building utility systems.
    • 3 - 5 years experience in the commissioning and qualifying of building automation systems.
    • 3 - 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry with some exposure to FDA regulatory requirements.
