Job Summary
The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager plays an integral role in overseeing and supporting the Corporate Development and Alliance management teams. This individual’s primary focus is providing oversight, modeling and analytical support to these teams in their evaluation of all Corporate Development 3rd party deals (eg. Product supply, product development, licensing, profit sharing, royalty, mergers and acquisitions) enabling strong support of the Company’s strategic growth initiatives and value creation.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with the Corporate Development team to develop financial NPV modelling for all new business development deals (eg. Licensing , M&A, etc.), and complete periodic reassessment of any existing business development deals that require updating.
- Make recommendations to enable stronger financial outcomes as it relates to overall deal structure, cash flow, payback periods and return on investment in support of an appropriate Apotex / 3rd party risk profile, our capital investment and strategic growth objectives.
- Participate in any required financial due diligence activities, as required in specific deals.
- Develop a tracking system for any synergy targets related to the deals and track success against the original business case / NPV assessment of business development deals after one full year post closing through a formalized post-mortem assessment process.
- Collaborate with various departments across the business to ensure all modelling and financial assumptions have been validated / understood as necessary to enable a more fulsome NPV model, including making an assessment of any upside or downsides within the business case.
- Manage the planning / forecasting processes for any deals in the pipeline as it relates to inclusion in the Company’s Annual Operating Plan, forecast updates and/or the long range 5-year plan.
- Work with the Corporate Development and Alliance Management functions to support the ongoing analysis, reporting and preparation of statements and documentation for all 3rd party agreements.
- Maintain an updated 12-month cash flow & Capex projection of all confirmed and pending milestone payments, with focus on maintaining accuracy by quarter.
- Manage the functional Operating expenses budget for the Corporate Development and Alliance Management functions analyzing the results and reporting on them to leadership on a monthly basis.
- Update the profit share and royalty forecast for all third party products as needed, working with the revenue and profit forecast provided by the commercial teams.
- Oversee all appropriate review and approval processes in conjunction with the above and in compliance with the required internal controls and the delegation of authority.
- Participate in special projects to drive global commercial execution and EBITDA uplift as assigned.
- Evaluate of current processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Communicate insights, analyses, and performance trends to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- All other relevant duties as assigned, which could include supporting forecasting/planning/budgeting, management reporting and any other cross-functional work.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field (CPA an asset)
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Understanding of organizational vision and strategic goals to translate those into concrete, actionable plans and deliverables.

- Strong foresight to anticipate management information requirements and deliver reports that meet those needs.
- Analyze large volumes of complex data to extract meaningful insights and present findings clearly and concisely to senior management.
- Experience building complex financial models to support strategic decision making, including sensitivity and scenario analysis.
- Capable of coordinating concurrent deliverables in a fast-pace environment, adapting quickly to changing demands and ensuring timely delivery.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present concepts at all levels in an organization, particularly at the senior management level.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensure precision and accuracy in all data and tasks through a rigorous, detail-oriented approach.
- Able to work independently with excellent organizationl skills.
- Possess strong business ethics for handling confidential information.
- Experience
- 5+ years of progressive FP&A and Finance
- Experience in a large global company and in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Strong technical proficiency in all aspects of MS Suite – PowerBI, Copilot, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project.
- Experience building solutions utilizing AI tools preferred.
Experience in an SAP environment or similar ERP system.
