Job Summary

This role requires a highly-motivated and experienced professional who is experienced in assessing growth opportunities via mergers and acquisitions to grow Apotex’s US, Canadian, and International businesses. This important role will be key in driving our growth strategy through the continued execution of M&A.

Job Responsibilities

  • Opportunity Evaluation: Identify and assess potential M&A opportunities, ensuring they align with strategic objectives. Leverage market research, competitive intelligence, and financial analysis to support decisions.
  • Business Case Creation: Spearhead the formulation of business cases for potential transactions, incorporating financial projections, market insights, competitive analysis, and strategic alignment.
  • Financial Modelling and Analysis: Lead the financial analyses to assess the feasibility and impact of potential transactions. Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate potential risks and opportunities.
  • Transaction Execution: Manage the process throughout the lifecycle of the transaction. Work closely with advisors, transaction counterparties, and internal teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Due Diligence: Work closely with internal cross-functional partners and external advisors to conduct due diligence and identify both risks and opportunities. Facilitate post-transaction integration to ensure smooth transitions and optimize value realization.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Support in the development and continued tracking of the M&A pipeline. Track market trends, industry developments and competitive dynamics to spot emerging opportunities and shifts.
  • Presentation and Communication: Lead the preparation of insightful recommendations and findings to senior management, the Board and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and compelling communication of key data and strategic insights.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Undergraduate University degree 
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Masters) an asset
  • Strong financial modelling skills, including experience building complex financial models and conducting valuation analyses. Understanding of key financial metrics and accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing M&A transactions.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify key insights, and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create materials that present complex information clearly and concisely. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including drug development, regulatory pathways, and commercialization strategies.

Job Requirements

  • Experience
    • 2-4 years of relevant experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Corporate Development or other M&A experience, ideally experience within the pharmaceutical industry
