Job Summary
Serves in a senior Strategic Supply Management role within Global Supply Planning, support the Sites Operations by ensuring a continuous supply of materials required for Operations, R&D and launch and/or QC, within quality specifications, while maintaining inventories within targets, minimizing obsolescence. This role will provide leadership and governance to the team of packaging and excipient buyers across the Apotex network, oversees procurement processes and identifies opportuties to improve work flow. Managing packaging material flow from all operational (day-to-day ordering, quality, etc.) perspective for a group of assisgned materials, participating or leading cross functional teams consistent with GMP and regulatory requirements and acting in a professional and ethical manner. This role will ensure that the Buyer functions are executed in support of the organization's requirements to maximize customer service, at the best total cost, while minimizing inventory exposure and obsolescence. This is demonstrated through ownership and personal accountability for overall packaging procurement performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible, and is the primary point of contact, for supply related issues to their assigned products through the lifecycle of the product. Particularly from the point of Supply Plan creation to firm planning through to disposition (sale or disposal). On a daily basis the Planner must virtually follow their products through each step (eg. Procurement, production, packaging, distribution, etc) to ensure activities occur as planned, and take appropriate action for deviations, which is not limited to escalation.
- The Planner is responsible to prepare a 12 month Supply Plan for their assigned product families. and to plan, execute, and manage the materials ensuring continuous supply of materials through strategic planning.
- Create and issue Purchase Orders for raw materials and Process Orders for all levels of production and packaging, after performing any/all API/component inventory checks. Process orders must be issued within the appropriate timeframe as outlined in the S&OE Process. POs issued outside this cycle must be communicated to the business.
- Effectively communicating with senior managers and peers to determine and align material requirement priorities based on stakeholder strategic business priorities and timelines.
- Participate and contribute in projects to implement new or improved Supply Management processes and systems across the Global Apotex Supply Network.
- Utilizing LEAN methodology, develop, implement, and maintain processes to support optimal procurement processes resulting in more efficient work flow and continuity of supply at lowest total cost, best quality, and minimizing inventory and obsolescence
- Work in conjunction with the Strategic Procurement and other key stakeholders to develop methodologies in support of supplier relationship management. Collaborates with Site Leaders, Site Teams, Global Supply Chain, Global Manufacturing, QA Labs, and New Product Launch amongst others to facilitate cross-functional discussions on potential gap closing options and solutions.
- As part of a cross functional team and the Manager, Global Supply Planning, contributes to the establishment and adjustment of components’ inventory target levels and ensures the maintenance of those levels through effective collaboration and cooperation with involved departments within Global Supply Chain and Operations.
- Work in close collaboration with the AD Materials Management to support overall materials governance program and required escalations to ensure material availability. Backup AD Materials Management when required for assigned tasks.
- Work in close collaboration with the AD Materials Management to ensure that the Above Site and At Site planning and execution personelle and programs are in compliance with site procedures and are always in an audit ready state . Specifically, ensuring that the site planning teams are trained and prepared to support the Site Quality teams to address audit questions relating to materials planning and execution programs (e.g. Vendor Management List

Job Requirements
- Education
- University or Community College graduate of a relevant designation.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP or equivalent MRP/ERP systems and technology.
- General knowledge of GMP and/or Pharmaceutical requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of various office, business and statistical software (Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
- Excellent interpersonal skills to support relationship building with internal clients.
- Ability to develop strong credibility with senior level internal stakeholders and affiliates
- Demonstrated managerial skills/competencies required to lead, develop and motivate a team.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve contentious issues through to resolution.
- Demonstrates ownership and personal accountability for overall performance of team’s assigned categories and projects.
- Ability to make effective decisions quickly through assessment of the situation, based on strong knowledge of facts and business, without waiting for 100% of required information.
- Experience
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience in Supply Management or Procurement.
- Previous accountability for corporate procurement governance and material planning process an asset.
- Experience in leading self–directed, cross-functional work teams to deliver expected results.
