Job Summary

This role is responsible to ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials to meet internal and external customer requirements, in accordance with Global Quality policies. This role is responsible to ensure continuity of supply of materials required for Production Operations, TO, R&D, RA, QA and/or QC, within quality specifications, while maintaining inventories within targets and minimizing obsolescence.

The role is responsible, and is the primary point of contact, for API & raw materials (excipients & capsules) supply planning for their assigned portfolio through the lifecycle of the product. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day supplier issues and relationships from an operational and tactical perspective.  This is demonstrated through ownership and personal accountability for overall performance of assigned portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible to plan, execute, and manage the Materials Planning for their assigned portfolio using a minimum 12 month horizon. Ensure continuous supply of materials and meet customer service requirements through tactical planning.
  • Develop and maintain target on-hand materials while maximizing inventory turns. Monitor inventory levels and take appropriate actions to ensure uninterrupted supply. This includes but not limited to: issuing purchase orders, retests, material/site transfers, and disposals.
  • Work with internal teams and suppliers to immediately address and resolve issues affecting supply continuity. This includes but not limited to: changes in PO quantities and delivery dates, supplier driven changes, and quality issues. Participate in root cause problem solving process to resolve supply issues, including corrective/preventative actions (CAPA). Communicate and escalate to manager and other stakeholders, as appropriate. Update SAP to reflect these changes in a timely/accurate manner.
  • Work with Procurement Hubs to obtain all supplier documentation. For example: supporting documents for material retests, supplier driven changes, and controlled substance importation process. Responsible for applying for import permits and communicating permit approvals to supplier.
  • Responsible for material disposition or return to the supplier. Reconcile and resolve any supplier invoicing issues with Apotex Accounts Payable.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings across functions/sites in support of GAPIP activities and/or continuous improvements. This includes delivering presentations to internal/external audience. Involved in the decision-making process, i.e. provides facts required for decision making.
  • Contribute to the development/maintenance of metrics, including preparing reports. Regularly review/update all GAPIP master data.
  • Review and assess impact to changes during the Change Control process. Manage the phase-in/phase-out of changes in materials.
  • May be required to assist/back-up other team members (across sites) on an as-needed basis, including training other members.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Post secondary education in a related field an asset, this can include SCMP and/or CPIM enrollment/certification.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to respond to complex or unconventional queries and will escalate as required.
    • Comfortable and capable of working in a complex or ambiguous environment.
    • Ability to manage complex or critical materials/services or higher number of items or spend.
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office; demonstrated ability to utilize Excel in developing reports and analysis using pivot tables and charts, vlookups, and database functions.
    • Knowledge of inventory management methodologies an asset.
    • Strong analytical /problem solving skills demonstrating pro-active initiative required to identify potential issue and lead to resolution.
    • Ability to provide guidance to the more junior team members.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively across functions and with different levels of the business.
    • Demonstrated high level of self-sufficiency and ability to make independent decisions.
    • Ability to develop strong internal relationships and partnerships.
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings with cross functional teams in order to achieve a self-determined outcome.
  • Experience
    • 3-5 years of progressive experience in Procurement or Planning roles.
    • SAP or equivalent ERP experience a requirement. MRP/MM Procurement experience an asset, preferably in SAP.
