Job Summary
Commercial Portfolio Management is the collection of activities that range from the selection of product candidates for the portfolio through to the management of the approved pipeline and setting of submission priorities for the Canadian Market.
The primary accountabilities are: Market research and analysis to support product selection and portfolio management activities; Forecasting and financial analysis for solid / liquid dose and animal health products; Portfolio Rationalization / Pipeline assessment.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensuring the right commercial strategy and profitability for all projects in the pipeline.
- Working with cross-functional stakeholders to gather and interpret information that will support recommendations around contingency plans (e.g. in-license from international partner, in-license cross reference).
- Responsible for updating any commercial information in the submission prioritization model /Global Third Party Priority list/DOSE (including forecasts) and applying priority changes as appropriate.
- Forecasting for domestic solid/ liquid dose including animal health products until they are transitioned to Product Marketing for launch.
- Integrated Business Planning Activities – Responsible for working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the PMR deliverables including the presentation are timely and all inputs are accurate.
- With cross-functional support, generate an annual presentation to facilitate portfolio strategy – focus is on identifying gaps within the portfolio and conducting therapeutic / dosage form reviews.
- Responsible for preparing the input/ analysis/ marketing recommendations required to support the Domestic Pre-product selection team (PST) and Product Transition Meetings/ Domestic to-be-monitored (TBM) and Change Management processes.
- Responsible for preparing the input/ analysis required to support the Hospital Marketing initiatives such as Customer Advisory Board, extended stability requirements, etc.
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities such as new therapeutic categories.
- Establish reporting system to have high level overview of status of priority projects.
- Work with the following departments to gather and interpret information required for the commercial strategy for individual projects: R&D, Intellectual Property, Business Development (BD), Hospital and Animal Health, Marketing and Launch.
- Monitor overall value of the Canadian product portfolio in terms of projected net sales.
- Liaise with BD Analysts/ consultants for domestic in-licensing projects.
- Liaise with Global Project Management (GPM)/ New Product Development (NPD) Project Leads for domestic in-house/ co-dev projects.
- Represent Canadian market at the Cross-functional Pre-PST / TTM meeting/ BD Commercial Meeting.
- Chair of Domestic Pre-PST. Chair of Product Transition Meeting.
- Collaborate with Commercial portfolio analysts/ consultants from EU, US and PPSO/ Global Portfolio to ensure global pipeline synergies.
- Support the Manager, Portfolio in post-contract signature activities for third-party products.
- Work as a member of the team to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years pharma experience (preferably in marketing or strategic management).
- University degree in business, science, or pharmacy.
- 3-5 years forecasting and market research experience.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, team player who is also results focused.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with high-level skills in Excel and Access.
- Ability to quickly grasp internal computer systems such as Enterprise Project Management and DOSE.
