Job Summary

 

The Product Manager, Marketing is responsible for leading strategic product marketing initiatives in efforts to support the sales and marketing of our domestic product portfolio with focus on upcoming Specialty/Complex product launches.  Reporting directly to the Director, Marketing Promotions, the Product Manager, Marketing is responsible for working with other Marketing team members, internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of product communication and promotion action plans for both specialty/complex and upcoming new product launches.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • One of the main focus areas will be in the strategic plan development of upcoming specialty/complex product launches including, but not limited to:
    • Strategic and tactical plan development.
    • Sales / sales force structure requirements, strategy and execution.
    • RMP (Risk Mitigation Plan) and PSP (Patient Support Program) development and execution as required including:
      • RFP process and vendor selection
      • Market research
      • RMP/PSP development
      • RMP/PSP material development
      • Budgets and forecasting
  • In collaboration with Portfolio Team, assist process for analyzing and evaluating future pipeline products to assess launch complexity and maximize launch readiness, especially for complex, specialty products.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of upcoming, regular generic new product launches including new product launch campaigns and communications in conjunction with the sales department.
  • Develop and execute messaging and communications related to all aspects of the Apotex product portfolio including: new launches, discontinuations, transitions, trade dress changes, and ordering information.
  • Create new and/or leverage current programs to drive promotion of Apotex products to key stakeholders including independent pharmacy and physicians, key account/chains, and payers.
  • Implement tools and programs to drive generic therapeutic substitution where possible.
  • In collaboration with and support of Sales Team, develop, create and/or participate in key customer presentations eg. Cancer agencies, in support of existing and future pipeline product launches.
  • In collaboration with Director, Marketing Promotions and other Key Internal Stakeholders, assist with key messaging as it relates to Key Accounts, Retail Pharmacy and Government Relations/Market Access in order to continue to demonstrate and elevate Apotex’s leadership and best partner-of-choice messaging, positioning and points of differentiation.
  • Work closely with third party vendors to develop and execute product-based promotional campaigns.
  • Assist when required in the recall communication process in collaboration with Quality, Sales Planning, Customer services and Sales management, to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Support team in conducting regular and ad-hoc marketing analysis, communicating with Sales Managers and representatives to obtain relevant market and competitive information.
  • Provide direction and guidance to other marketing team members to execute department objectives and deliverables.
  • Actively participate in product-related committees and working groups as directed by Director, Marketing Promotions.
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements

 

  • Education
    • A university degree in Business (Marketing major or MBA preferred) and/or Science degree coupled with a minimum 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing (Rx, Gx, OTC).
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Well-rounded marketing skills including experience in market research programs and working with and implementing marketing plans.
    • Experience in the strategic analysis of and creation, development and implementation of PSPs (Patient Support Programs).
    • Creative, strategic, innovative team player with excellent analytical and problem solving skills; proven experience in process management and optimization.
    • Strong business acumen with superior organizational & presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead cross functional teams.
    • Self-starter and results-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude.
    • Ability to work in an independent and/or team environment with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to multi task and manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to make effective recommendations and timely decisions.
    • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent computer skills; Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint) as well as enterprise software systems.

  • Experience
    • Well-rounded knowledge and experience of the Canadian pharmaceutical industry
    • Previous Marketing experience including development and execution of strategic and tactical plans.
    • Previous experience or proven skills in leading and managing a team and direct reports.
    • New product launches/brand management.
    • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders professionally and efficiently.
