Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Packaging Technical, you are responsible for ensuring company-wide projects are managed in a consistent and efficient manner.  You are responsible for ensuring a proper system of reporting, monitoring and escalation is established to manage project exceptions.  Acting as a leading member of a team, you work with other members in an attempt to reduce or eliminate non-value added activities or costs, while maintaining or improving quality, productivity, and timeliness throughout the project(s) being managed.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Lead or assist with capital and non-capital projects involving replacement or improvement of new or existing systems.  Identify and lead the implementation of equipment improvement and optimization opportunities
  2. Develop project design concepts, justification, scope, specifications and cost estimates.

 

  1. Liaise with all levels across the organization to lead the activities and communicate project status and impacts.
  2. Work closely with Production Technical Coordinators to attain resources and at times perform site supervision of mechanics/electricians/contractors.
  3. Manage resources to complete projects on schedule and create contingency plans to ensure minimal production impact.
  4.  Possess an in-depth understanding of equipment enabling you to be a subject matter expert for the purpose of investigations, audits, training, or otherwise as required.
  5. Resolve senior level or complex technical service issues with internal customers, such as Operations, Quality, Engineering, etc., and formulates recommendations to resolve matters which are beyond existing SOPs.
  6. Develop clear and simple justifications and project summaries to clearly define the problem, root cause and proposed solution.  Must be comfortable presenting to upper management.
  7. Liaise regularly with other senior technical specialist and end users to:
  • Develop layouts and support design specifications
  • Provide technical advice
  • Acquire a more detailed understanding of their short and longer term technical service needs and
  • Recommend solutions for improvements

 

  1. Responsible for Developing and Maintaining Project Timelines and implementation schedules for all assigned initiatives.  Work with all members to develop project time lines and implementation schedules for projects utilizing project management software.
  2. Act as a leader within the department representing the interests of the Manager and/or Coordinator’s as required.
  3. Recommend changes to designs, drawings and modifications of equipment or parts as required in conjunction with engineering and maintenance.
  4. Keep abreast of all changes and advances in company policies and new technology.
  5. Work independently with minimal supervision.
  6. Ensure that all work is performed in a full compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP’s), SOP’s and in accordance with established Safety Standards.
  7. Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.
  8. Performs all work in support of our Corporate Values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity and Diligence; Demonstrates strong and visible support of our values.
  9. Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
  10. All other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Education

  • University/College education / Project Management certification preferred or proven equivalency.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of PMBOK (Project Management Institute’s Project Management Book of Knowledge) desirable but not mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, ACAD, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project.
  • Knowledge of Quick Change Over Techniques and PLC would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to lead others.
  • Proven strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.  Demonstrated experience in co-ordinating project activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience
  • 5 Years experience in the industry of pharmaceutical or consumer goods high-speed packaging.  As well, knowledge of HPB, FDA regulations would be an asset.
  • Experienced in process mapping techniques.
  • Information Systems experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in commissioning and qualifying equipment.
