Job Summary

The Co-Op student will work with the Unified Communication and Networking Team, and Platform Solution Delivery Team within the Platform and Cloud Services Group in the service delivery of technology operations and support, system administration, and project support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support to network infrastructure, compute, and storage infrastructure in some or all the following areas:
    • VMWARE, HYPER-V and Nutanix virtualized infrastructure.
    • Windows and Linux systems.
    • Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Windows 8, 10.
    • Backup services.
    • LAN/WAN/WIFI Networking.
    • Network Security Layers.
    • Network Monitoring & Management and Event Management
    • Voice & IPTEL Technologies.
    • Collaboration Technologies (including MS 0365).
    • Public Cloud platforms.
  • Prepare and update department’s technical documentation.
  • Perform research on assigned topics and prepare findings, reports, and presentations.
  • Work on assigned tickets and changes.
  • Work on assigned technology and business projects or initiatives as required.
  • Assist in data centre tasks and activities.
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution with co-op education program.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Familiar with current compute, storage, network, and desktop technologies.
    • Good analytical, trouble shooting and customer service skills.
    • A quick and open learner.
    • Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills.
    • Familiar with Microsoft office collaboration and productivity tools – O365, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience
    • Possess 1 or more years hands on experience in some or more of these areas:
    • VMWARE, Windows server OS, Linux, Citrix
    • Windows 8, 10 OS and common desktop technologies.
    • CISCO routers, switches.
    • LAN, WAN technologies
    • O365
  • Nice to have
    • Knowledge and experience with one or more of common scripting tools – PowerShell, Python.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity, IT service delivery concept, public cloud technologies.
