Job Summary

This role will be primarily responsible for cost forecasting, financial reporting & analysis and budget preparation. The role will also be responsible for identifying and implementing strategies to drive effective product life cycle and supply chain management, by applying the enterprise view to product profitability, to enable the maximization of working capital across the Apotex Supply Chain network.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the financial analysis of operational groups and identifying areas requiring attention through management reports.  Contribute to the Periodic Reporting Packages in a timely manner. Assist management in establishing financial requirements and challenges for continuous performance improvement.
  • Responsible for the coordination and analysis of the annual work plan/budget for the related functional groups.
  • Design, develop and deliver new reporting methodologies to support business initiatives.  Create appropriate tools and models to facilitate effective operational cost management.
  • Assemble launch, costing, process, equipment, inventory, net sales, market share and market strategy data from the API sites, manufacturing sites and commercial groups to develop information to support effective decision making.
  • A leader in advancing analysis and recommendations to support decisions in the post launch commercial process.
  • Conduct business reviews that evaluate the cost benefit analysis of outsourcing products vs. manufacturing in-house; and make recommendations.
  • Prepare routine product profitability reviews to support the portfolio rationalization and the discontinuation of unprofitable molecules that do not have a strategic benefit to the organization. 
  • Responsible for the coordination and analysis of product profitability by applying an in-depth perspective into the markets, manufacturing process, manufacturing site and raw materials.
  • Undertakes appropriate analysis, in a proactive manner, in order to provide meaningful reporting to management for the purpose of effective decision-making and operational benchmarking of business activities.  Utilizes advanced financial techniques to identify and recommend alternative courses of action to optimize working capital and profitability.
  • Responds to highly complex and unconventional queries from internal clients, by providing the appropriate information to support the business needs.
  • Completes special projects as required. Serves as project leader and demonstrates well developed project management skills.
  • Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Demonstrated expertise in finance and accounting gain through a university degree and a recognized accounting designation (CGA/CMA).
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strong technical proficiency in all aspects of MS Windows – Excel PowerPoint, Word, Access & Project.
    • Strong technical proficiency with SAP FICO, MM and SD modules.
    • Financial modelling.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present concepts at all levels in an organization, particularly at the senior management level.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
    • Strong ability to anticipate management information requirements.
    • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement in a timely and effective manner.
    • Able to work independently in a proactive manner.
    • Excellent organizational abilities.

  • Experience
    • 5-7 years management accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in managing projects and initiatives simultaneously

Pharmaceutical experience preferred
