Job Summary

Reporting to the SVP, Global Business Tranformation & Strategic Planning, the Associate Director is responsible for sourcing strategy development, supplier selection, contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, risk management and execution. The AD will lead the creation and implementation of category strategies and procurement for selected categories or sub categories of goods and/or services. The incumbent develops and is responsible to keep market expertise current for the categories they are responsible for as well as provide guidance to the business on markets and category risks and opportunities. The AD Category Management is also accountable to plan and lead the development, implementation and operations of an enterprise-wide, "best-in class", Negotiation Center of Excellence, which will focus on the communication of key negotiation principles, the optimization fo negotiation opportunities, and the standardization of the Apotex approach to supplier negotiations.

Job Responsibilities

Category Management

  • Accountable for the overal sourcing/category management strategy and direction of the Category Managers.
  • Acts as primary liasion between Global Indirect Procurement and Business Stakeholders across all categories of procurement and for all geographic regions.
  • Support Catefory Managers in the identification, implementation, and communication of sourcing strategies and negotiation levers to optimize savings and stakeholder relationships.
  • Translates business strategies, challenges, and opportunities into global indirect procurement opportunities to dive improved spend management or service levels.
  • Takes a proactive role in faciliating and monitoring the adoption, use and implementation of Global Indirect Procurement processes and systems.
  • Relationship development and management within business segments while aligning with strategic business objectives and fiscal year goals.
  • Addresses all escalations from Category Managers in a timely manner and in support of the overall Global Indirect Procurement strategy and priorities.
  • Identify risks, provide recommendations, and implement mitigation plans as it relates to Global Idirect Procurement activities, Category Management, and the business priorities of the company.
  • Provide expertise, support, and consultation on Procurement and Category Management and identify business performance issues.
  • Drive innovation and operational effectiveness by identifying and implementing relevant and meaningful continious improvements.
  • Prioritize all Procurement requests and assigns appropriate priorities and resourcing.
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and manags effectively the ongoing performance of their direct reports, which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ensuring their Job Descriptions are reviewed, signed, and sent to Employee Services, annually,
    • Reviewing and updating employee development plans, ensuring all employees are properly trained and qualified to execute their duties,
    • Provide coaching, feedback, and recogition,
    • Reponsible to ensure compliance and team members (direct reports) with Safety and Employment policies (e.g., Respect in the Workplace - Prevention of Violence and/or Harassment).
  • Works as member of team to achieve overall outcomes
  • Performs all work in accordance with established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements

Negotiation Excellence

  • Develops and maintains Negotiation Academy cohorts including:
    • Devlopment of lecture materials with external suppliers
    • Assessment, selection, and recommendation of alternate suppliers/lecturers as required
    • Develop and report results on cohort attendee feedback
    • Any relevant matters related to budgets, planning, and marketing of the Academy to Apotex internally
  • Identifies and develops an additional training required by Apotex negotiations, with an emphasis on Indirect Procurement to further upskill the team.
  • Develops, curates, and commuications Negotiations playbook (preparation, process, checklists, templates) to ensure a consistent and standarized Apotex approach to optimal supplier negotiations.
  • Identifies key supplier negotiation opportunities within Category Plans, and assures that Playbook is implemented accordingly.

Job Requirements

Education and experience typically associated with this role. If relevant experiences is progressive and transferable, then minimal years of experience in each element are guidelines only;

  • Educational Requirement - University graduate degree required, specialization in Operations Mangement, Supply Chain or Engineering preferred

 

Ideal experience for this job includes:

  • 10+ years of sourcing experience or procurement lifecycle experience (e.g., requisition to payment customer impact experience)
  • 10+ years of Business Stakeholder Relationship/Vendor Management within a scientific, manufacturing or technical organization
  • 10+ years of contract management experience, with specific negotiating experience and the ability to interface with legal on terms and conditions
  • Experience managing an annual portfolio of between $250-500 Million including the establishment of associated metrics and reporting
  • 5-7 years of experience supporting a combination of all of the following categories; Corporate and Professional Services, Information Technology and Logistics, Scientific and Lab Services, Capital Goods (Plant & Machinery), Facility Management and Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO).
  • Ability to drive business insights, decisions, and saving opportunity using strong data analytical skills
  • Demonstated ability to identify and lead change management effectively across inter-disciplinary teams
  • Advanced communications skills (e.g., written, verbal, and presentation skills) and experience in buinsess framing for middle to senior management stakeholder groups.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated and compliance driven scientific, manufacturing, or technical organization.
  • Strategic knowledge and understanding of global enterprise procurement systems with a preference for SAP, Ariba, SMART
