Job Summary

The Senior Director of Global Tax Planning, reporting to the VP of Tax & Treasury, oversees several critical, strategic global tax processes for the Apotex Group of Companies.  Serving in a leadership position, this role will have ownership of all material strategic tax areas, assisting the VP of Tax & Treasury to develop global tax policies.  This role is responsible for the preparation, monitoring, management, and control of strategic Global Tax activities throughout the global Apotex organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary Corporate Tax point-of-contact for all global tax controversy matters
  • Responsible for developing and implementing global tax planning strategies and ensuring consistent management of tax risk through partnership with internal and external resources
  • Review proposed and new tax legislation with a material impact to the company
  • Monitor, evaluate, and escalate tax matters to the VP of Tax & Treasury that could have a material impact on Apotex’s operations
  • Lead tax response to Apotex’s M&A initiatives and other strategic transactions, partnering with the Corporate Development team
  • Proactively partner with peers across Finance to ensure effective implementation of tax planning strategies
  • Support the global tax accounting and tax compliance processes, providing information as required
  • Assist in reviewing global tax transfer pricing documentation for possible risks
  • Partner with Legal and other internal constituents to ensure tax planning strategies and other transactions are documented and implemented properly.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • JD with a LLM in Taxation
    • A. or B.S.B.A.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate recommendations concisely and timely
    • Intrinsically curious and motivated by attention to detail and quality of work
    • Ability to make sound decisions and resolve problems
  • Experience
    • 15+ years of progressive experience with global, complex tax issues
