Job Summary
As a member of the Building Systems team, you will be accountable for the management and supervision of all building systems activities in a customer focused manner. You demonstrate an ability to apply best practices in the operation and maintenance of all Apotex facilities in a safe, efficient, reliable and fully compliant manner.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all facility mechanical / electrical systems including boilers, chillers, air handling, dust collection and vacuum systems, heat exchangers, chillers, purified water / water treatment, compressed air, fire / sprinkler systems, domestic water and drainage systems and all associated piping and equipment.
- Conduct and / or arrange for necessary testing, document results, make recommendations to ensure that Apotex facilities follow regulations (HEPA filter testing, etc.), and standards concerning ventilation requirements.
- Program, implement, and coordinate maintenance priorities for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements to complete work in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
- Ensure all information related to maintenance, calibration, repair or alteration relevant to all building systems and equipment is properly approved and documented.
- Coordinate and communicate the work with all other departments.
- Work with users, Building Services staff and vendors to provide building services & engineering expertise / evaluate effectiveness of systems to ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of Apotex facilities and for continuous improvements.
- Source cost effective materials for building maintenance and repairs while providing contractors and suppliers with relevant data to ensure quotes are based on accurate and full information consistently.
- Assist in budget preparations and planning for both operating and capital budgets as well as maintain budgetary control of departmental expenditures.
- Review and analyze all utility consumption, trends and cost data.
- Participate and lead performance conversations with employees to reinforce and encourage a high performance culture and safe working environment.

Job Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in the management of a large complex physical plant with a minimum up 3 years direct leadership experience.
- Engineering Degree, Technologist Diploma (preferably Mechanical) or a Third-Class Stationary Engineering Certificate (minimum) or a combined combination of education and experience.
- Post-graduate courses in building systems are desirable.
- Solid knowledge of building mechanical/electrical systems as applied to large institutional buildings.
- Demonstrated expertise in the field of energy management.
- Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting and administrative skills.
- Well versed with data analysis applications and ability to comprehend and apply environmental control principles to establish overall efficient operation of buildings.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Working knowledge of SAP considered an asset.
- Good interpersonal skills, with demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, planning and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with proven customer service focus.
