Job Summary

Responsible for logistics projects management, including project planning, execution, closure and monitoring. Provide project management/business excellence leadership and guidance to the Indianapolis Distribution Center while ensuring alignment and consistency with Global Logistics’ processes and practices. Provide coaching and learnings to different stakeholders within Indianapolis Distribution Center. This role prepares analytical reports on a regular and ad-hoc basis providing data driven insights to help optimize decision-making, escalating exceptions and enabling behaviours that support departmental KPI’s. This role will drive change and ensure the development of programs supporting of a business excellence culture. Manage and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support defined business strategies and meeting industry compliance requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the leader and primary contact to oversee and/or participate on selected projects, ensuring successful and timely execution of the project plans to achieve projects/continuous-improvement goals.
  • Manage all internal and external stakeholders and vendors in a professional and ethical manner. Effectively collaborate with them to ensure the successful project execution in accordance with Global Supply Chain Logistics budget constraints and signed vendor contracts.
  • As an SME, review, participate in viability assessment and prioritization of proposed changes. Serve as a technical specialist and advisor in supporting the Indianapolis Distribution Center by responding to specialized/customized or highly complex queries/analysis.
  • Manage and report on initiatives, projects, and programs to improve governance, increase efficiency, and enterprise profitability through the implementation of business processes, tools, and resources for Indianapolis Distribution Center to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Act as an expert resource by utilizing advanced analytical techniques to identify contentious issues and anticipate problems affecting the continuous flow of work through Indianapolis Distribution Center. Jointly develop contingency plans with key stakeholders.  Communicate recommended course of action/decision for execution.
  • Manage the communication framework during project execution to continuously inform stakeholders of progress, issues and proposed contingency plans.  Escalate issues via Leadership team, as appropriate.
  • Participate in developing, recommending and implementing projects, systems, policies, procedures and measures of performance to facilitate continuous improvement of Indianapolis Distribution Center.
  • Coordinate the installation, commissioning and annual calibrations of new logistics equipment, including completing equipment installation and operational qualifications (IQ/OQs) for new/existing equipment as required.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports. 
  • Work with peers and cross functional internal teams in the evaluation and implementation, and support of key dashboards, metrics and processes.
  • Proactively communicate potential performance issues and exceptions affecting the assigned metrics, including actionable insights, follow-ups and recommendations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Post secondary degree in Engineering, Sciences or a related technical field or equivalent combination of College diploma and project management experience in operations environment.
  • Minimum 8 years of technical/process improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) project management experience, preferrably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Project Management Certification considered an asset.
  • Lean 6 Sigma Certification considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of SAP transactions for MM-Warehouse Management & MM-Material Handling considered an asset.
  • Strong project management and leadership abilities, particularly in the areas of achieving outcomes, developing and maintaining positive working relationships, clarifying expectations and seeking understanding, and taking ownership and accountability for own performance.
  • Experience with leading and facilitating team events.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proven successes in motivating, coaching, problem-solving, decision-making, prioritizing and achieving results through others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop strong credibility and relations with senior level internal stakeholders and affiliates as well as vendors.
