Job Summary

The Chemist, Formulation Development is responsible for performing tests and experimental trials to prepare pharmaceutical formulations under supervision in order to obtain a stable and bio-equivalent product with the Brand. The chemist also provide launch support related to formulations to other  departments as required

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepares various pre-established formulations for other departments as required.
  2. Assist in the development of new formulations including compounding procedures that is transferable to production setting.
  3. Write-up of various documents such as bulk formulation procedure, protocol and execute report.
  4. Weighs, mixes and blends raw materials to produce experimental trials and small-scale batches for solutions, suspensions and aerosol formulations.
  5. Records observation on product and process characteristics during experimental trials and pre-established formulations.
  6. Testing of physical parameters for formulated and reference product for laboratory, scale-up processes samples and others as required.
  7. Conduct long-term experiments to establish the physical stability of the formulation, e.g. pH, color and viscosity monitoring studies and sedimentation rate determination..
  8. Assist in the investigation of process deficiencies of experimental trials and recommend solutions for improvements.
  9. Set-up and clean all equipment including mixers, homogenisers, tanks and other formulation related equipment.
  10. Perform all work in accordance to SOP, GMP and SWP and all company policies.
  11. Communicates effectively across all levels of the department and external customers.
  12. Attend department meeting and internal training meetings.
  13. Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.
  14. Performs all work in support of our Corporate Values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity and Diligence; Demonstrates strong and visible support of our values.
  15. Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
  16. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering or related science
  • Preferably with one to three years working experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a formulation development environment
  • Sound working knowledge of formulation equipment and analytical equipments.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Experience using microcomputers, preferably in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Well-developed interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to work independently and make responsible and accountable decisions
  • knowledge of GMP, GLP, Safety, FDA and TPD guidelines
