Job Summary

The Product Manager will be primary responsible for setting the strategy, positioning/targeting customers and forecasting for a select group of existing products. This individual will collaborate with other functions Sales, Supply, Commercial Operations and Finance to execute decisions and monitor product performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Owns the product life cycle management from maturity (typically 6-12 months post launch) to end of life for his/her select group of products. S/he will utilize deep understanding of the business, customers, and drivers of performance to set and execute product strategy, monitor product performance, and influence pricing decisions.
    • Analyzes competitive landscape, market dynamics and bid history in support of strategy
    • Oversee product line P&Ls and manage each for growth, identifying opportunities to grow while managing costs effectively.
    • Evaluates strategic packaging options for product portfolio
    • Recommend for discontinuations
  • Strategically position and target customers in collaboration with Sales, Supply & Commercial Operations
    • Assess key metrics to respond to RFPs and bid activities
    • Presents bid analysis to senior management
    • Monitor market pricing and evaluate pricing positions
    • Monitor sales and contract compliance
    • Collaborate with Demand Planning to ensure adequate product supply; safety stock, back orders, allocation etc.
  • Provide forecast assumptions for Finance to support Integrated Business Planning (IBP)
    • Assists on reporting of product performance drivers and trends
    • Provides relevant product risks and opportunity updates
    • Supports dosage form analysis, as needed
  • Lead cross functional product strategy sessions
  • Prepares and presents product related presentations as needed for Executive Management, Sales, Customers and Partners 
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis
  • Manages projects as required for the department
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of team members (direct reports) with the Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies. 
  • Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes;

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required either in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics or a similar degree
  • Advanced Degree (MBA, MS etc.) preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the U.S. generic pharmaceutical industry; or similar/comparable industry experience
  • Data analysis experience and an advanced MS Excel user is a must
    • Experience with pivot tables and advanced complex formulas
    • Power Query a plus
    • VBA Macros and Database (SQL) a plus
  • Strong and proven quantitative, qualitiative, analytical reasoning and communication skills
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking ability & able to analyze & visualize data effectively
  • Forecasting and financial modeling knowledge experience
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management capability
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to travel (approximately 10-20% travel)
