Job Summary

The Pre-Launch Portfolio Analyst (I or II) supports the management of the products in the pipeline from the time they are submitted to the FDA until they are launched in the market. This role is responsible for maintaining competitive intelligence and other analytical reports specific to products in the Apotex pipeline, including IP/Legal, qualitative and quantitative information regarding future launch products and generating product forecasts accordingly.  The individual will assist in preparing the company for product launch and communicating updates to relevant stakeholders including New Product Launch, Sales and Global Intellectual Property teams as appropriate. Compiles and analyzes pharmaceutical market data to identify risks and opportunities that could impact pipeline products. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for competitive market analysis that assesses legal, regulatory, and competitive landscapes for pipeline products and modifies forecasts accordingly; communicates updates/changes to management and other team members
  • Creates forecasts and various financial analyses including long-term projected revenues and manufacturing quanitities for pre-commercial products
  •  Uses market research skills to compile product specific data and market trends, especially related to future launch items (e.g. sales analysis, packaging information, pricing)
  • Assists in preparing products for commercialization; collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate launch prep activities including pack size determination, forecasts loads, launch documentation (e.g. HDA form, SDS, labeling, etc.), internal/external product setup, and ensures proper inventory build and replenishment schedule to support target share at launch
  • Create and disseminate product launch calendar and helps educate Sales Team on product and market landscape for new product launches
  • Responsible for post launch performance evaluation and communication regarding attained market share vs. target market share, and tracking actual scenario at launch vs. pre-launch assumptions
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date product information and listing on the Apotex website, particularly in regard to recently launched products
  • Maintains proficiency in all available research tools and sources, including IQVIA, IPD Analytics, Pharma E Track, DailyMed, FDA Orange Book, Drugs@FDA, Medi-Span Price Rx, online news sources, and internal data sources and programs
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure proper alignment and implementation of processes
  • Manages projects as required for the department
  • Assists in preparing standardized and ad-hoc reports
  • Assists and/or creates presentations.

Job Requirements

  • Job Requirements:


    • Bachelor’s degree required either in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Pharmacy/Science, or a similar degree; advanced degree in business management or science a plus
    • 18 months of experience in the U.S. generic pharmaceutical industry; or similar/comparable industry experience preferred
    • Strong and proven quantitative, qualitiative, analytical reasoning and communication skills
    • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong Excel skills required; Power-Point proficiency preferred
    • General analytical report creation, forecasting and financial modeling knowledge required
    • IQVIA and other pharmaceutical database knowledge preferred (Price Rx, FDA sites, etc.)
    • Ability to lead complex assignments requiring integration of multiple disciplines
    • Must be highly proactive, strong ability to prioritize, and capable of multi-tasking to a very high degree


    The physical requirements of the position generally include: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing.  In some circumstances, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling may apply.  In general the activity level one usually performs is light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative and sedentary nature.  This position may require lifting up to 25 pounds.  Generally work is performed in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.   


    The regularly scheduled work week is Monday through Friday and the hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm. 


    Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%).
